We are excited to announce that planning permission has been granted for the change of use of a substantial retail block into a hotel on Gaolgate Street in Stafford.
David, one of the project Architects, said, "the change of use from a retail store with large footprint to a hotel is an imaginative solution to the north side of Stafford where retail has suffered and it will be a significant stage in the regeneration of this part of the County Town".
The site has a ground floor entrance, Reception and Dining Room with 120 rooms arranged on the first and second floors.
The innovative drum will form the visual identity for the new operator and replaces a pastiche of a Porte Cochere, bringing the new use into the exciting future of Stafford. This idea is replicated at the end of the existing covered walkway that provides covered connection from the parking area to the Entrance.
Internally the floor plate has had an Atrium cut into the first and second floors allowing for double stacked rooms and an interesting landscaped internal courtyard.
